After Mom and I got back from her hiking trip early last week, we only had a couple very busy days to reset, get ready, and leave with Dad and Lily for our summer vacation/family reunion in Utah. We drove all the way there in the RV, taking five days to do it.
I can’t write in a moving car or risk car sickness, and when we stopped hasn’t been a good time either. Traveling is just too exhausting. So I’ve only had a few days to recover after reaching Utah, and I’m still feeling scandalously lazy. I’m…technically on vacation, so I suppose that’s allowed. 😂
But by “lazy” I mean I’m doing at least a little author work each day to keep things running. (I’ve never been able to actually stop working entirely—sometimes getting some things done is relaxing, you know?)
The new hold map(s)
But wait! One of the things I did accomplish somehow over this past couple weeks of hectic prep and travel is to finish up a map collaboration with an artist and post the results to the website.
🗺️ Behold, the improved Moontouched Hold map!
It’s based on the old hold map I made myself, so at first glance, it will look similar, but it’s much more polished—plus, the base layer is hand drawn and watercolored.
And the illustrator made three more versions to show the new parts of the hold as the series progresses! Each map after the first has a spoiler warning to indicate when it’s safe to look.
Now, with this professionalized version and its new variants, I’m ready to insert them into the frontmatter of the Blood of the Covenants books. Yes, the maps will be inside the books themselves. (So official, so fantasy.) It’s part of a whole front-and-back-matter update that my assistant and I have been working on—I’ll share more when it’s complete!
